PIT Airport Transportation to Pittsburgh North: How to Get There

Published 4 min read

By Reagan Hollowell

PIT airport transportation includes driving, taxi service and public transit. Pittsburgh International Airport is about a 31-minute drive from Pittsburgh North, while Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s 28X Airport Flyer connects PIT with Downtown Pittsburgh and several other neighborhoods—not directly to the hotel. Plan your transfer to Pittsburgh North before you travel.

  • Driving: A direct way to travel from Pittsburgh International Airport.
  • Public transit: The 28X Airport Flyer boards at the consolidated bus stop in the terminal’s ground transportation area.
  • Fare: The 28X single-trip fare is $2.75, with free transfers for up to three hours.
  • Taxi pickup: Taxis use the designated area along the Commercial Curb.

Driving from PIT

Driving is a direct way to travel from PIT.

For a pickup or drop-off, follow airport signs for the ground transportation area and use the designated curb for your vehicle type. PIT’s rules require taxi and limousine pickups to use the Commercial Curb rather than a travel lane. Shuttles and public transit buses also use the Commercial Curb for pickups and drop-offs, not the Departures roadway.

Allow time to collect your luggage before meeting a commercial vehicle. PIT’s rules direct scheduled commercial-vehicle operators to wait until passengers have collected their bags and are waiting at the Commercial Curb before proceeding there.

Taxis pick up passengers in the designated taxi area along PIT’s Commercial Curb.

After collecting your luggage, follow airport directions to the Commercial Curb and designated taxi area. Taxi and limousine operators must use that curb for pickups; they cannot load passengers in a travel lane. Airport rules also direct hotel and off-airport parking shuttles to the Commercial Curb’s Courtesy Vehicle Area.

PIT’s published rules do not specify current rideshare pickup locations or app-specific pickup rules. They also do not provide taxi fares or schedules and fares for hotel shuttles. If you plan to use a rideshare app or arrange a shuttle, confirm the pickup instructions and cost with the relevant provider before leaving the terminal.
